Problem with Morpheus’ Logic

“What is ‘real’? How do you define ‘real’? If you mean what we can taste, smell, hear and feel then what’s ‘real’ is nothing more than electrical signals interpreted by your brain.” -Morpheus, The Matrix

The problem with this logic is that electrical signals & brain are nothing more than electrical signals interpreted by your brain. In other words, electrical signals & brain are not real just like everything else. Morpheus is trying to say that there is nothing other than our-faculty-for-perceiving-that-which-is. And that it does not actually perceive anything other than itself.

Wait a minute, we missed out something! By the above means, our-faulty-for-perceiving-that-which-is, is also not real just like everything else!

So we have come to deepest parts of Plato's cave where there is nothing. Yet, we know there is something. Oherwise, what the fuck is going on?! Let us start with this knowledge which we call self-evident.

Something exists. Since we know it we have a-faculty-for-perceiving-that-which-is. If there is nothing, there can be no faculty-for-perceiving-that-which-isA-faculty-for-perceiving-that-which-is which cannot perceive anything cannot be.

Now the final realization: To be is to be something instead of another thing. To be is to be something instead of nothing. So everything that is not nothing is also something instead of another thing.

We begin here and find our way back out of Plato's cave. (BTW it was Aristotle who saved us from the cave. So thanks to him. No thanks to Morpheus.)
