The trade in the South China Sea & Indian ocean has always followed cycles. As always the Chinese initiated it, the Indians took it over and then Westerners got the next chance. Now we are on the verge of the old Chinese renaissance, while the West in succumbing to anti-capitalist sentiments and India has not fully recovered from Fabian socialism. The cycles also seem to be reducing frequency while exponentially increasing in magnitude. A lot of interesting patterns emerge: today I went to a shop were a stand fan cost twice as much a telephone. It used to be the other way around 50 years ago. This means there is more freedom to trade and innovate in electronics and communication.
